About our Pre-school
Hawkesbury Upton Pre-school is a small rural village pre-school, which thrives in the heart of the local community. It was originally set up as a playgroup in the early 80's. Now well established as a formal early years setting, we have provided care and education to hundreds of children over the years. We are a charity, run by a voluntary management committee.
We are registered with Ofsted to take up to 24 children between the ages of 2 & 5 years to provide pre-school education. This follows the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Our setting is in the village hall and we are lucky to have a large open space which can be transformed into many different play and learning environments depending on the theme of the pre-school activity.
We have a large outdoor playing field with a lovely colourful play area and pre-school garden that the children love to explore.
Over the years we have built up a vast amount of resources and toys for the children, and through community fundraising these are constantly renewed and updated.
We have close links with the local primary schools most notably Hawkesbury Upton CEVC and Hillesley CEVA. The children regularly visit these schools to watch their plays and in turn we invite the reception children to see our performances. We also visit Hawkesbury School once a week for gym. This helps children to make a smooth transition from pre-school to primary school. Pre-school sessions run term time only in line with the local primary schools.
We have 3 experienced play leaders and regular supply staff to ensure excellent continuity of care and familiar reassuring faces for the children. All in all a great place for children to gently enter the world of socialising, play and pre-school education.
I am amazed how confident she is about starting school in September. I guess going there every week has helped!
